MDN Editör

In a historic first, the Japanese shipping giant Mitsui OSK Lines Ltd. (MOL) has appointed a female captain, Naomi Matsushita, to helm the Beluga Ace.

This groundbreaking appointment marks a significant step forward for gender diversity in the Japanese maritime sector, as it is the first time a woman will serve as a captain in a Japanese open-sea shipping company. Naomi Matsushita, throughout her tenure at MOL, amassed notable on-board experience primarily serving on container ships. Additionally, Matsushita has actively contributed to various land-based responsibilities, including supporting business divisions and ship management.
