Mass production of Turkey’s ULAQ SİDA commences

Turkey’s first indigenous unmanned combat surface vessel, ULAQ’s first platform the Armed Unmanned Surface Vehicle (SİDA) will start mass production, Defense Industries Presidency (SSB) Chairperson İsmail Demir has announced.

Speaking at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF), Demir’s noted the mass production of the USCVs developed by Ares Shipyard and Meteksan Defense are scheduled to start soon.

SİDA, the first in Ares and Meteksan’s ULAQ unmanned vessel series, boasts a cruising range of 400 kilometers (249 miles) and maximum speed of 65 km (40 miles) per hour, as well as indigenous encrypted communications, and day and night vision capabilities as well as encrypted communication infrastructure, which can be operated from mobile vehicles and headquarters or from sea platforms such as aircraft carriers or frigates, will be used for missions like intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, surface warfare, asymmetric warfare, escort missions, strategic infrastructure protection.

The prototype’s missile systems are inclusive of 4 cells of Cirit and 2 of L-UMTAS, supplied by Turkish missile systems provider Roketsan.
