Piri Reis University and TPAO collaborate on DP simulator trainings

Piri Reis University (PRÜ) and Türkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortaklığı (TPAO) signed a protocol on 15 June titled “Localizing Dynamic Positioning (DP) Simulator Trainings with Nautical Institute (NI) Accreditation and Certification.” The signing ceremony took place at the TPAO General Directorate.

The signing was attended by Tamer Kıran, Chairman of the Board of Management of the İMEAK Chamber of Maritime Trade and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Piri Reis University, Melih Han Bilgin, Chairman of the Board and General Manager of TPAO, PRÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Nafiz Arıca, and PRÜ Board of Trustees Member Dr. Özkan Poyraz.

Under the agreement, TPAO will support PRÜ in preparing its infrastructure to provide DP Start and DP Simulator training. The University, in turn, will provide the aforementioned training free of charge to TPAO staff and affiliated company personnel, with NI accreditation and certification.

In an interview with MarineDeal News’ June issue, PRÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Nafiz Arıca announced the new collaboration. Arıca said, “We are signing a significant cooperation agreement with Türkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortaklığı. DP training for TPAO personnel working on offshore platforms will be given on our simulators. We are going to sign a very long-term protocol with them. This will take place this week or next week in Filyos. We will work to meet all the maritime needs of Türkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortaklığı. The protocol is ready now. A press release will be made with the Chairman of the Board of TPAO and our Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the signing ceremony.”
