New Times Shipbuilding (NTS) delivered the first of six eco-friendly vessels to Navig8.
The first vessel of the batch, Navig8 Excel, was delivered to the Singapore based shipper on January 25. The vessel is fitted with technologies, which will improve operational efficiency, lessen fuel consumption and reduce emissions.
All six vessels will feature an air lubrication system (ALS) provided by Marine Technology Solutions, which according to Navig8 improved fuel efficiency and resulted in a power gain of 6.89 per cent MT/day in the sea trials.
In addition, the vessels are equipped with a certain model of exhaust gas cleaning system (EGCS), which is certified to reduce sulfur emissions to below 0.1 per cent.
The vessels will integrate a CII monitoring system directly connected to the Shipwatch platform, which oversees the performance of the ships to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions. Also, all 6 of the vessels will be technically managed by Suntech Maritime as they will join the Navig8 Gamma8 Pool.
