Greece’s Lavinia places order for Kamsarmax sextet in China

MDN İstanbul

Lavinia, a Greek shipping company, has placed an order for six bulk carriers to be constructed in China, as reported by Intermodal. These vessels belong to the Kamsarmax class, with a capacity of 82,000 deadweight tonnes (dwt). Four of these vessels are scheduled to be built at the Qingdao Yangfan shipyard, while the remaining two will take shape at COSCO Heavy Industries Yangzhou.

The delivery of these new Kamsarmax bulk carriers is expected between 2025 and 2026. The specific price for these units has not been disclosed by the shipowner.

Lavinia’s fleet is under the management of Laskaridis Shipping Co., and it operates a range of dry bulk vessels, varying in size from 64,000 to 208,000 deadweight tonnes. These vessels are engaged in transporting both major bulks such as iron ore, coal, and grain, as well as minor bulks including bauxite, fertilizers, and steel products.

In April of this year, Laskaridis Shipping announced its plans to launch a new analytics tool across its fleet. To fulfill this objective, the company entered into an agreement with the maritime technology firm ShipIn System.
