In a recent interview CHP Vice President RADM Yankı Bağcıoğlu gave to Turkish newspaper Cumhuriyet, he criticized the cooperation declaration agreement for Type-23 frigates that was penned between National Defense Ministry (MSB) and England
Cumhuriyet Gazetesi, which mentioned MarineDeal News’ special feature on MSB’s purchase of Type-23 frigates from Royal Navy shared, Bağcıoğlu’s relevant comments on the issue.
In the aforementioned piece that was published back in January, 18, 2023 MarineDeal News disclosed that the said Type-23 frigates were previously used by the Royal Navy in the harsh geographical and climatic conditions of Egypt.

Bağcıoğlu, who strongly opposed the agreement says:
Taking into account the timing of putting national projects into practice such as İ Class frigate and Hisar Class open sea patrol vessel, the decision to purchase Type-23 or any foreign vessel will be a non cost-efficient decision as well as a defamation, in the least, to our national defense industry and a wasted resource for Turkish Naval Forces.
