Contributing to the UK’s 2050 net-zero goal, Next Geosolutions is conducting a geophysical survey for National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET)’s 2 GW Sea Link

The 2 GW Sea Link, which is going to reinforce the electricity network between Suffolk and Kent will be 145 kilometers and predominantly offshore.

Within Next Geosolutions’ geophysical survey, survey vessels Shore Presence and Shore Possibilty is collecting data from offshore areas and coastal sea waters between Aldeburgh, Suffolk, Pegwell Bay, Ramsgate and Kent.

The National Grid is now considering all the submitted feedback it collected from its statutory consultation, which took place between October and December 2023.

NGET will send its application to the Planning Inspectorate in the third quarter of 2024 and the application will be reviewed in the following 28 days to be accepted for examination or not.

The construction, which is expected to start in 2026 is planned to be completed around 2030 with some reinstatement and landscaping work continuing into 2031.
