TSK gets locally built rescue and diving training boats

MDN İstanbul

Two Rapid Intervention and Diving Training boats built at the Desan Shipyard – owned by the Kaptanoğlu Group – boasting a high local and national input rate of 71 percent, have joined the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK).

The first steel cutting ceremony for the boats had taken place in October 2018. They were delivered in an official ceremony to the Turkish Navy on 23 August 2020. 71 percent of all the resources employed in the project has been locally acquired or produced, including the boats’ software and tech systems. The shaft and propellers of the boats were 100% locally produced, which were also the first shaft and propeller systems to be classed by the Turkish LLoyd.

The pressure chambers in the rescue and diving training boats, designed in the format of 4+2 chambers, were completely developed and designed by Turkish engineers. The project is also historic in the sense that it has become the first project where all of the vessels that were built as part of it were built and delivered at the same time.

The historical project’s shaft and propeller systems, its rudder system, diesel generators, acoustic monitoring and capture system, ship information distribution system, air compressors, constant pressure chambers, diving panels, main distribution table, boat control and monitoring systems, as well as fire detection systems were produced with 100 percent domestic resources.
