The US is preparing to block Iran's commercial shipping, citing UN sanctions that were reimposed late last month.
According to a report by the Hezbollah-affiliated Al Mayadeen newspaper, citing unnamed sources, the US is preparing to block commercial shipping to Iran, using the sanctions that the UN reinstated at the end of last month as a pretext. The report states that any US action against Iranian ships would prompt a swift and decisive response from the Iranian navy, which is “ready to neutralize threats to maritime security in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.”
It was reported that Iran's naval fleet and missile bases along the country's southern coastline are on high alert and ready to respond immediately to any hostile action targeting commercial or civilian vessels.
