On Monday night, US military forces boarded yet another ship subject to sanctions, the US Department of Defence has stated on the social media platform X. Watch the video.
According to the department, the vessel in question is the tanker M/T Tifani, which was boarded and seized at an unspecified location in the Indo-Pacific region, far from Iran.
A video, which you can see below, reportedly shows armed soldiers being lowered onto the tanker.
The whole operation took place “without incident”.

The shipping industry is pushing for a global IMO agreement on climate regulations

“As we have made clear, we will continue global maritime enforcement operations to disrupt illicit networks and seize sanctioned vessels providing material support to Iran — wherever they operate,” the Department writes in the post, emphasising that international waters “are not a safe haven for sanctioned vessels”.
The post does not mention what will now happen to the ship. Late on Sunday, a US destroyer attacked the Iranian-flagged container ship, the Touska, because, according to the Americans, it had breached the blockade against Iranian ports.
The ship’s captain had reportedly ignored several US warnings to stop before the destroyer fired several shots at the ship’s engine room. The ship was subsequently boarded and taken under US control.
