The situation in the Middle East is now escalating further, after the Houthis entered the conflict at the weekend by firing two missiles at Israel. The shipping industry is now anxiously awaiting news of whether the militia will also resume its attacks on shipping in the Red Sea.
Whilst hostilities are thus escalating, US President Donald Trump claims that progress is being made in the ceasefire negotiations between Iran and the US. On Sunday night, the President announced that, starting on Monday morning, the Iranians would allow 20 oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. However, this has not yet happened.

Whilst negotiations are reportedly taking place, according to Trump, the Americans are continuing to send reinforcements to the Middle East. Most notably, marines and paratroopers. They will, if necessary, be deployed for US ground operations in Iran should the war come to that.
According to analysts, this would not involve a full-scale invasion, but rather limited operations against installations that enable the Iranians to close the Strait of Hormuz.
