More energy privatization, please!

MDN İstanbul

Murat Yalçıntaş, the head of Istanbul Chamber of Commerce has said that the production of equipment used for renewable energy has to become a focus point for Turkish investors if Turkey is to gain a bigger share in that market where significant growth is expected in the near future. Renewable energy is not only important for diversifying energy resources, but also for the economic market it represents, Yalçıntaş explained.
Yalçıntaş said, the ratification process in Parliament has to gain speed for regulations that would open a bigger part of the energy market to the private sector. If the country maintains its 6 percent yearly growth rate, he noted, it would need to invest $120 billion in the energy sector by 2020, an amount that the state cannot possible tackle alone without the help of private companies.
