German cruise ship-builder MEYER WERFT enters offshore converter platform market in collaboration with Dragados Offshore
MEYER WERFT’s offshore converter platfroms; DolWin4, BorWin4, BalWin1 and BalWin2 converter platforms will be build in The Papenburg shipyard and they will connect offshore wind farms in the North Sea with the onshore transmission grid.
Spain-based Dragados Offshore will do the production of the converter platforms.
MEYER WERFT Chief Business Innovation Officer, Jan Meyer said, “This order is a milestone for us in the entry into the construction of converter platforms, which we will also build at NEPTUN WERFT in Rostock in the future. This successful expansion of our product portfolio secures knowledge and employment at our German shipyards and at the same time makes a decisive contribution to the energy transition. We are pleased to have found new customers for a new product of the MEYER Group with our know-how and our capacities. We firmly believe in this new market.”
The platforms are expected to be delivered between 2024 and 2027.
