Malaysia’s green hydrogen project will use floating solar power

Malaysia’s first large-scale green hydrogen production project, which will be developed by Semarak Renewable Energy (RE) and PowerChina is going to use floating photovoltaic power generation

The agreement that was signed between Semarak RE and PowerChina, in which they agreed to develop a large-scale green hydrogen production plant, worths for MYR 1.88 billion, which is approximately $398 million.

Within the project, which will be located in Perak, green hydrogen will be produced and stored through the deployment of floating photovoltaic power generation.

As a part of the agreement; floating photovoltaic power generation will be designed, procured and constructed, as well as hydrogen production and storage units.

PowerChina said that they are determined to build on their expertise in the field of alternative energy and support Semarak RE to become a developer of the green hydrogen energy industry in Malaysia.
