The hostilities in the Middle East are having a major impact on shipping. This also applies to Maersk, which has ten ships in the Persian Gulf that are unable to leave due to Iran's de facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the Wall Street Journal, more than 100 container ships are stuck in the Gulf, where the Jebel Ali port in Dubai is a key distribution hub for the whole Middle East. Ten of them are Maersk ships. And it will take between a week and 10 days to return to normal operations if a ceasefire is agreed, Maersk CEO Vincent Clerc told the Wall Street Journal.
