Big investment from DP World for port expansion

MDN MEDIA

DP World invests 200 million dollars for Santos Port’s expansion and modernisation projects

The investment that aims to increase port’s current 1.2 million TEUs annual throughput to 1.4 million TEUs will extend the quay area from 1,100 meters to 1.290 meters. The project is expected to be completed in 2024.

DP World CEO Fabio Siccherino said, “In Brazil, we have many accomplishments to celebrate after a decade of operations. We recently announced a new expansion that reflects the Port of Santos’ position as an important transport and logistics artery in the region.”

DP World’s terminal in Santos is currently adapting 22 diesel-operated Rubber-Tired Gantry Cranes to electric, with five slated for conversion.

This shift is expected to reduce the terminal’s diesel consumption by up to 60 per cent.

Siccherino said that this is all part of the decarbonisation project of the terminal.
