Turkish Naval Forces carries out Sea Wolf military exercises

DENİZKURDU (Sea Wolf) 2019, one of the Turkish Naval Forces’ biggest military exercises, was held simultaneously in the Black Sea, Aegean and Mediterranean between May 13-25.
The military drill aims to increase the preparedness level of the troops, ships and marine vessels of the Naval Forces Command. 131 warships, 57 warplanes and 33 helicopters and 25,900 military personnel took part in the military drill including sea station planes, sea helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, amphibious troops and amphibious attack teams SAT and SAS members of the Naval Forces Command.
Additionaly, general purpose and attack helicopters ,tactical air support units, control planes and cargo planes, personnel of the Special Forces Command and Coast Guard search and rescue boats, corvettes and planes

The drill began on
13 May 2019

when naval troops and vessels took off from the ports of Karadeniz Ereğli, Umuryeri, Gölcük, Erdek, Foça, Aksaz, Mersin, İskenderun. During the drill, ğreperation activities, marine operation duties and trainings geared for crisis and conflict situations were carried out, in addition to firing shots.
Frigates, assault boats and corvettes built as part of the National Ship (MİLGEM) project took shots at land and onshore targets and maneuvers were conducted at sea.
Land bombardements shots were carried out off Saros Gulf by the TCG Salihreis frigate. Two separate positions within a 10km range of each other were targeted.

Submarine sunk in

As part of a war game, the position of an enemy submarine was pinpointed and later attacked and successfully destroyed.
The warships that left the Gölcük Naval Main Base Command passed through the Dardanelles Strait and were transferred to Saros Gulf for live-fire and training exercises. The ships then headed to the North Aegean for destroying above-water targets and for anti-submarine warfare.
As part of the drill , four state-of-the-art marine helicopters, including the Sea Hawks, took off from aircraft carriers to find the enemy submarine.
Dipping sonar systems were used by the helicopters to locate the submarine. After the location of the submarine was found, other warfare elements participated in an assault on the vessel, successfully destroying it in the end.

Damage control training
Warships sailing from the main naval base of Gölcük, including the Salih Reis Frigate, participated in damage control training. Air defense exercise were also carried out with drones and anti-ballistic missile technology.
